British Academy International Fellowships

British Academy International Fellowships

The Uehiro Oxford Institute invites expressions of interest from international scholars who wish to apply for the British Academy International  Fellowship scheme, for entry in 2026/7.

The overarching aim of the International Fellowships programme is to attract and retain emerging talent in the UK and build a globally connected, mobile research and innovation workforce. The BA International Fellowships are two-year Fellowships, open to outstanding early career international scholars. The eligibility requirements are complex, and it is the responsibility of the applicant to check their eligibility. More information about the scheme is available on the British Academy website.

Please note that in view of the highly competitive nature of the scheme, and the limited number of awards we will only be able to select candidate for support.

Candidates who would like to apply for a BA IF in the field of practical ethics with Oxford as the host institution are asked to submit an expression of interest no later than midday on 28th January 2026.

To submit an expression of interest you should send the following to the Research Office:

  • 2 page (maximum) description of your project which should address the project aims, objectives, research questions, methodology and outcomes; and including the name of Faculty you wish to be considered by, and the name of the agreed supervisor. You should bear in mind when writing your expression of interest that it will be reviewed by Faculty staff, some of whom will be outside of your specialism.
  • A maximum 2-page CV.
  • A statement of support from your proposed supervisor sent separately to the research office.

You are also welcome to include, if appropriate, a statement of any circumstances that you feel may have impacted your research track record (such as illness, parental leave, etc.).

There is no guarantee that applications arriving after the above date will be processed. Candidates selected by the Institute will be contacted by the Research Facilitation team with further information on the process and timetable for submitting applications via the British Academy system.
