’Tis the Season to be Jolly: Hedonism and the Value of Pleasure
Christmas for many of us is a hugely enjoyable time of year. But it is also involves many other potential good things: time spent with family and friends, the exchanging of gifts, worship, and time for reflection. In this talk, Roger Crisp will argue that all of these other good things can be good only because of the pleasure they involve. This view — hedonism — has had a long history, but fell into decline in the early C20. Roger aims to revive it, just in time for Christmas!
