Gary is a Research Assistant Professor at Lingnan University and a Research Fellow at the Hong Kong Catastrophic Risk Centre. His research interests include the ethics of new technology, population ethics, and animal and environmental ethics. His work has been published in journals such as Journal of Ethics, Journal of Moral Philosophy, and Utilitas. His most recent paper investigates how automation of meaningful work by AI might undermine the meaning of our lives. During his visit to the Uehiro Oxford Institute he will pursue further research on how emerging technologies might affect the value and meaning of human life.
