Mark Butler

Mark Butler is the Institute Manager at the Uehiro Oxford Institute. He supports the Director and academic leadership in the development of the Institute’s operations, governance, and professional services in support of its research, teaching, and public engagement activities.

Before joining the Uehiro Oxford Institute, Mark served as Interim Head of Administration and Finance in Research Services. Prior to this, he was Head of Operational Change and in the Department of Biology, where he played a central role in establishing governance and operational structures following the merger of departments, and in the planning and delivery of the Life and Mind Building.

Earlier in his career. Mark was Research Manager and Operations Lead for Experimental Therapeutics in the Radcliffe Department of Medicine, where he managed complex research portfolios. He has experience of working across the University to deliver strategic projects, develop governance frameworks, and support multidisciplinary teams.

Mark holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Bristol and is a UK Civil Mediation Council accredited mediator.
