Eve is a DPhil student working on topics at the intersection of ethics, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of action. Her DPhil thesis will focus on the special role that 'moral' reasons play in practical reasoning, particularly in situations where agents act against their apparent moral reasons. This includes cases where agents appear to be justified in this departure from reason, such as in moral dilemmas, through political 'reasons of state', and in protecting their own wellbeing, but also cases where the departure from reason is not justified, as in moral failure, akrasia, and general instances of irrationality.
Before coming to Oxford, Eve obtained a BSc in Mathematics and Philosophy and an MPhil in Philosophy both from the University of Warwick, where she also worked in the Warwick Mind and Action Research Centre.
