Lasse Nielsen (PhD, Dr.phil) is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southern Denmark, where he is affiliated with the Department of Design, Media and Educational Science and the Center for Philosophy and Ethics of Health. He is a moral and political philosopher whose research focuses on distributive justice, social and political philosophy, applied ethics, health ethics, health inequalities, discrimination, immigration, and the morality of extreme wealth. Trained in both philosophy and political science, he earned his PhD on questions of justice in health care and has made notable contributions to contemporary debates on sufficientarianism, relational justice, health inequality, and wealth concentration. His work has been published in leading journals in political philosophy and ethics, including the Journal of Politics; Journal of Political Philosophy; Politics, Philosophy and Economics; and Journal of Applied Philosophy. His recent book, A New Theory of Sufficientarian Justice (2026) is published with Cambridge University Press.
