Savannah is a PhD candidate at the Ethics Institute of Utrecht University (supervised by dr. Lucie White, dr. Chris Wareham and Prof. Marcel Verweij). Her research focusses on vulnerability, risk and (restrictive) public health policies in the context of pandemics. During her visit she will work on the moral quandary of restrictive visiting policies, end-of-life care and ‘dying alone’ during pandemics.
Before commencing her doctoral studies, she was a junior researcher at the Ethics, Humanities and Law department of Amsterdam University Medical Center, where she conducted qualitative research on the participation of patients and relatives in Moral Case Deliberation. Prior to that, she completed a BA in Medicine at Utrecht University, an MSc in Vitality and Ageing at Leiden University and an MA in Philosophy at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
Outside of academia she is a co-editor of and author for the Dutch bioethics magazine ‘Podium voor Bio-ethiek’ that publishes concise, accessible and interdisciplinary articles on bioethical issues.
Savannah enjoys running, climbing and visiting the theatre.
